Thirst for Freedom

Thirst for Freedom was created by Steven Young that is based on a combination of the work of Dr. David Stewart and Virginia Satir.  It was derived out of a corrections program for alcohol and drug related offenses in El Paso County, Co in 1971. It is also used currently in Glen and Butte counties, CA.   It is a humanistic, resource-based approach to addictions.  Thirst for Freedom is designed to support 12-step programs, proven to be highly useful and effective for parents and youth.  Thirst for Freedom includes:

• an assessment model focused on the concept of resistant drinking

• drinking patterns from a humanistic perspective

• recovery patterns
