Fathers, Sons, & Brothers
A special invitation for men and the men who work with them
Fathers, Sons, & Brothers...
Is an experiential, educational and growth workshop for men and the men who work with them. You will explore the intimate relations with the men in your lives, inside and outside the family, as well as issues of attachment and separation from the mother and connection with the father. Our work will demonstrate healing the triadic relationship and emergence into full adult masculinity and high self-esteem.
The workshop will focus...
on building self-esteem by transforming the wounds among the males in the family system. The consequence for marital, romantic, parental, social and business relationships will be explored together with questions of masculine identity, male bonds, gender roles, wounded child, violence and addiction.
How our early learning...
about the meaning of masculinity influences our spiritual journey and quest for personal growth will be a consistent theme.
Men need to understand...
the reality of their gender and sexuality. Living in such a hierarchical society, men are separated from the basis of masculine identity. How our early learning...about the meaning of masculinity influences our spiritual journey and quest for personal growth will be a consistent theme.
Many Men...
take superior status for granted without awareness of the price they pay in intimacy, nurturing, and connection to the life force. No one has suffered more in the dominator model than men. Men live ten years fewer than women and are more likely to be the victims of assault and murder.
Men have learned...
to value themselves only in self-sacrifice. Men learn that they are the expendable members of society; "Women and children first”. Boys learn very young that they must choose between nurturing and approval. Men lack intimate relations with other men. They are separated from women and children, and also from one another, by issues of competitiveness and by fear of homosexuality. The real tragedy is the great yearning that goes unfulfilled generation after generation.
The Family Work...
is based on the model pioneered by VIRGINIA SATIR. We will investigate the development of men in families of all sorts. We will focus primarily on the development of the Father- Son relationship through all of it’s stages as it effects both father and son. We will explore the consequences of absence or incompetence of the father or son to facilitate personal development and healing. The learning will be experiential involving role playing and personal participation in large groups, small groups and triads, as well as one on one with the staff. We will explore the personal, moral, intellectual, physical, sexual, spiritual, social, and emotional development of men as individuals, as sons and fathers and brothers, as mates and as leaders. Our intention is to support you in your authenticity as adult men in the practice of self-care, responsibility and self-esteem; and support you in your contribution to yourselves, your mates, your families, and your communities.. You can expect to celebrate, grieve and participate with other men as you come to embrace the various stages of your lives.
The Healing Touch...
Our sense of touch is one of the most important senses we have, providing us a significant way to become aware of ourselves and to communicate with what is around us. Touch is also a powerful means of communicating with other people, and can be a tool for healing. Many of us, as men in our society, are cut off from our sense of touch in ways that limit our experience of life, and confine our relationships. In many cultures, the healing arts are centered around the use of positive, nurturing touch. Expanding our self-awareness and capacity for connecting with and nurturing those we love by learning new skills of touching can add a new dimension to our lives and relationships.
The Food...
We believe that the ability to feed ourselves and others is a skill essential to high self esteem, tohealth and to community. As a community, we will produce a menu of high quality vegetarian food. The process will cultivate each man’s ability to nurture himself and others and will focus our attention on the role of food in our lives.
